The Academy Theatre (formerly known as the Amulet) has the history of being a significant venue for music, theatre and film in the South West of England. A gift to the town of Shepton Mallet from the Showerings family (the producers of Babycham), the theatre was erected in the 1970's using the very best technology of the day. In fact the theatre has the UK's only suspended seating system, offering unrivalled flexibility - just press a button and the seats disappear into the ceiling!
Since BAPA's (Bristol Academy of Performing Arts) acquisition of the Amulet, the theatre has been undergoing a major refurbishment project to bring back to life and improve this excellent facility.
